Lady Gaga inspires Raakesh Agarvwal's collection

International pop diva Lady Gaga’s eclectic style became an inspiration for designer Raakesh Agarvwal’s collection at the second day of ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Thursday.
“Lately, I have been listening to Lady Gaga a lot. Initially I never liked her, but when I started listening to her, I started falling in love with her. I love her style but I don’t know how many people would be able to carry it,” Agarvwal told IANS.

“I love her style statement and she is unbelievably creative. It was a challenge because she is always creative and I wanted that whole Lady Gaga creativeness to come into much more wearable garments. The garments were cut sharply for the body so that a normal woman can pick up and wear it and yet feel like Lady Gaga,” he added.

The designer’s collection included gold sequined jump suits, short dresses, jackets and gowns made from fabrics like velvets, jerseys, wool, satin and silk. However, the collection was dominated by leather.

“The whole collection is inspired by lot of architectures from different eras like the Taj Mahal in Agra to Blue mosque in Istanbul and Louvre Museum in Paris. We have taken different techniques, artworks and motifs and blended it with the sexy look with a bit of Lady Gaga style thrown into it,” he said.

Singer Anushka Manchanda opened Agarvwal’s show with a small gig, pepping up the mood in the show area.

“Anushka is real star and one of the best pop stars in the country till now. Moreover, because the collection was about Lady Gaga meeting architectural collection, I thought it would be better if I take a popstar rather than having any Bollywood celebrity or a supermodel,” Agarvwal added. (IANS)

Go Gaga for this Lady

FIVE-time Grammy Award winner Lady Gaga is set to make a return to the stage, with her Born This Way Ball tour.

Gaga will perform songs from her latest album Born This Way, as well as music from both The Fame and The Fame Monster.

The Born This Way Ball, produced globally by Live Nation, will begin on April 27 in Seoul, South Korea and will travel the globe, including cities that Gaga has never played.

Lady Gaga's last tour - The Monster Ball - captivated audiences around the globe, receiving rave reviews in every city.

The Sun called it "the best live show you will see this year" and the Pollstar Concert Industry Awards named it the Major Tour of the Year.
"The Haus of Gaga and I have worked for months conceiving a spectacular stage," said Mother Monster.

"The Born This Way Ball is an electro-metal pop-opera; the tale of the beginning, the genesis of the Kingdom of Fame.

"How we were birthed and how we will die celebrating."
The Born This Way Ball will be Lady Gaga's first tour since the release of her album Born This Way, which has sold nearly six million copies worldwide since its release in May last year.

The album is the follow up to back-to-back Grammy Award-winning albums, 2009's The Fame Monster, and 2008's The Fame.
Combined, The Fame and The Fame Monster have sold 15 million albums worldwide, while Lady Gaga's hit singles have combined sales of more than 65 million worldwide.

Gaga was named Forbes' Most Powerful Woman in the World 2011 and was included in the annual "The 2010 Time 100" list of the most influential people in the world.

With more than 2.2 billion combined views of all her videos online, Lady Gaga is one of the biggest living people on Facebook, with more than 47 million 'likes'.

She is number one on Twitter, with nearly 19 million followers.
Lady Gaga is the only artist in the digital era to top the five million sales mark with her first two hits.

Tickets for The Born This Way Ball go on sale for Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Auckland from Friday at 9am sharp, at livenation.com.au.

Tickets to all Australian shows are available through ticketek.com.au 132 849.
Lady Gaga will perform at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on June 13.

Katy Perry To Rival Lady Gaga's Success?

We adore Katy Perry and it seems that everyone else does too, as her latest single is set to score the biggest debut numbers since Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way'!
We love every electric blue hair on Katy's head, so we couldn't be happier to hear she's had some good news for the first time in a while.
Her new single ‘Part Of Me’ is a complete and utter hit, expected to sell between 400,000 to 420,000 downloads by tomorrow. That is a LOT of downloads, believe us. And, if it does as well as expected, it will be Perry’s biggest debut number ever. Ever!
And, as if that weren't huge enough, it will also be the highest opening week for any act since Lady Gaga's ‘Born This Way’ sold 448,000 copies in a single opening week.
If we look at things analytically, we can see that Gaga and Perry are both pretty nifty with their timings; both singers released their singles to coincide with their Grammy performances. There's nothing like a little bit of extra publicity to add some spice to music sales.
And, speaking of extra publicity, it goes without saying that Katy Perry's explosive divorce from Russell Brand is helping things along too. In fact, Perry even reworked the lyrics to score one last dig at her ex:
“You can keep the diamond ring, it don’t mean nothing anyway”
Wowza!
It seems as if the first single release off of ‘Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection‘ has signalled a change in Katy's sugarcoated signature tunes for something with a bit more kiss-of attitude.

Lady Gaga on Simpsons Episode: 'One of the Coolest Things I've Ever Done'

The 500th Simpsons was shown yesterday - and pop star Lady Gaga will star in the season finale.

Lady Gaga will star in the 23rd season finale of The Simpsons, which celebrated its 500th episode yesterday.
The Simpsons is the longest-running prime-time scripted programme on US TV and is contracted to run for another two seasons.
The episode entitled 'Lisa Goes Gaga' will feature Lady Gaga visiting Springfield to cheer up Lisa and Lady Gaga has said: "I play a little bit of a slut. The apple doesn't fall far from my artistic tree."
Previous cameo appearances on the show include Tony Blair, Simon Cowell, The Beatles, and Dustin Hoffman.
The Simpsons' creator Matt Groening has said he still wants to take the show forward, adding: "Mostly it's revealing back stories of some of the characters we've never dealt with. We have a character we call Squeaky-Voiced Teen, which is [Dan] Castellaneta doing a 1940s Hollywood teenager. We've never given him a name; I'd like to know a little bit more about that guy."

Charles Worthington would love to style Lady Gaga's hair.
The iconic hairdresser believes the eccentric singer would be the ideal person to work with as she would want something ''completely outrageous''.
When asked who he would like to work with, Charles exclusively told BANG Showbiz: ''Lady Gaga would be an absolute scream because she's so out there. There would be no parameters as to what you could do with her. She'd want something completely outrageous which would be really fun to do.''
Angelina Jolie is also at the top of his wish list of people's hair to style, adding: ''I've never worked with Angelina Jolie and I think she'd be fabulous to work with.''
Meanwhile, Charles - who has teamed up with the BAFTAs to create a limited-range of hair products - has predicted the styles that he thinks will be popular on the red carpet at this month's Academy Awards.
He believes that the top looks will include ''relaxed glamour'' and modern versions of Marilyn Monroe's hair.
He said: ''The slightly more relaxed glamour rather than everything being too structured. The odd little bit of fly away and the odd fluffiness and texture to hair. I think it looks more real and I think we're definitely going to see some of them Marilyn waves from the film, 'A Week With Marilyn'.''
Charles Worthington's Limited Edition BAFTA and 25th Anniversary Collection is available now. Visit www.charlesworthington.com for more information.

Lady GaGa 'Haunted By The Devil' In Her Sleep

Los Angeles, Feb 21 (IANS) Pop star Lady Gaga believes the devil keeps haunting her during sleep.
The 25-year-old has enlisted the help of Michael Jackson's former doctor and spiritual adviser Deepak Chopra to try to ward off evil spirits from her "terrifying" dreams.
Chopra helped the late Jackson achieve better sleep and breathing patterns with counselling sessions.
"I have this recurring dream where there's a phantom in my home and he takes me into a room where there's a blonde girl with ropes tied to her limbs pulling her apart," showbizspy.com quoted Gaga as saying.
"I told Deepak the dream was so terrifying I thought somehow that a devil force was trying to take hold of me," she added.
Gaga has also asked Chopra to help her achieve her dreams of "going into a coma" and levitating.
"I want to go into a coma and levitate. I am a very spiritual person. Deepak is the most influential person in my life. His message is a true inspiration. He helps me to reach inside my spirituality and we take it to the next level," she said.

Givaudan Seeks to Bottle Lady Gaga for ‘Expensive Hooker’ Scent

Feb. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Givaudan SA is trying to fit Lady Gaga into a bottle.
The Swiss fragrance company is working to collaborate with the U.S. singer when she launches her first scent, which Lady Gaga has said would recreate the tones of an “expensive hooker.” Competition for major brands is fierce and ingredient suppliers have to re-pitch when celebrities launch new perfumes, Chief Executive Officer Gilles Andrier said today.
“Fragrances from celebrities are usually very competitive because the first couple of years are very big,” Andrier said in an interview. “Even if you win Lady Gaga, it would be a portion of the business we have to win every year.’
Ever since Elizabeth Taylor annexed her fame to a perfume called ‘‘Passion’’ in the 1980s, celebrity fragrances have gained a footing in the scent market, which researcher Global Industry Analysts predicts will be worth $33 billion by 2015. Collaborating with names such as Lady Gaga would bring a boost to Givaudan’s fine-fragrance unit, which hardly grew last year.
Givaudan has to re-win about 30 percent of its existing fine-fragrance business each year, equal to 100 million Swiss francs ($108 million) to 120 million francs, the CEO said. After a slow start to 2011, fragrance demand picked up in the remainder of the year following a ‘‘strong pipeline of new wins’’ across all major customer categories, Andrier said.
Lady Gaga’s first signature scent will be introduced in 2012. Her perfume campaign and commercial is being shot this weekend, to be edited into a ‘‘special song,’’ she said on Twitter on Feb. 14.
Never Smelt Before
‘‘I can say it’s comfortably something you’ve never smelt before, that you’ll never forget,” fragrance inventor Dawn Goldworm of Paris-based Coty Beauty, the world’s largest maker of fine fragrances, said in an interview.
The U.S. singer, known for extravagant outfits that have included a dress made from strips of meat, joins performers including Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Lopez in the market for celebrity fragrances.
Givaudan made the ingredients for Fantasy by Britney Spears. Its main competitors are closely held Swiss competitor Firmenich International SA, New York-based International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. and Germany’s Symrise AG.
The CEO is targeting expansion at double the pace of the 2 percent to 3 percent growth expected for the wider market by taking customers from smaller rivals.
Resilient Demand
Into 2012, the fine-fragrance market is holding up after a good Christmas season in the U.S., Andrier said. Givaudan is “well positioned” in the U.S. and celebrity market, he said.
The “base case” for raw-material costs is flat pricing this year, though some natural products and chemicals could see as much as 3 percent inflation, Andrier said. Givaudan plans to increase prices further after higher raw-material costs hurt profitability.
Annual net income dropped to 252 million francs from 340 million francs. Sales fell to 3.9 billion francs. Both figures are in line with analyst estimates, according to a Bloomberg survey.
Andrier today reiterated a mid-term forecast to maintain industry-leading operating profit margins, a challenge for the manufacturer as price increases lag behind cost inflation. The gross margin at the Vernier, Switzerland-based fell to 42.6 percent last year from 46.1 percent.

Kelly Osbourne Blasts Lady GaGa Fans For Vile Twitter Abuse

Kelly Osbourne has hit back at the Lady GaGa fans who bombarded her with abuse after a Grammy comment.
Osbourne had called the 'Judas' singer "disrespectful" for snubbing the red carpet last Sunday (February 12), prompting an onslaught of angry Twitter messages from her so-called Little Monsters.
She had said: "Being part of the music industry is walking the red carpet. You say hello to your fans and you give back to those reporters and those people who supported you. And when you go to an awards show and you don’t walk the red carpet, I find that disrespectful."
After coming under fire from the popstar's supporters, she wrote: "I have been told to die, suck d**k, get raped & that i look like i have aids by @ladygaga fans no wonder they get called bullies. (sic)"
The Fashion Police host then reminded her followers that she is a fan of GaGa, saying: "I love [her] I’m a huge fan she is amazing… i just gave one opinion and people went nuts!
"I don’t label [Gaga's] entire fan base as bullies because i know they are not but some really are giving you guys a bad rep!”
She concluded: "@ladygaga really has created monsters. w/ every nasty unjustified tweet u send me u shame your queen. hate [is] not what @ladygaga is about!"

Lady Gaga Beats Adele In Virgin Awards Fightback Following Grammy Bust

Lady Gaga has cleaned up in this year's Virgin Media Music, awards getting some consolation after being snubbed by the Grammys.
Gaga failed to win a Grammy, losing out in the categories she was nominated in, largely to Adele. Here she won the awards of Best Album, Best Female, Best Track, Best Video and Hottest Female.
The singer's album 'Born This Way' was propelled into first place by her army of 'monsters' giving her 87.1% of the vote. Adele's all conquering, Grammy award winning album '21' was left behind in second place with just 4.94% of the overall vote.
This could have had something to do with Lady Gaga's 19million followers on twitter - Adele has just over 4million.
Virgin Media editor-in-chief of digital entertainment Nick Forward said, "The shock result for me was Lady GaGa beating Adele to win 'Best Album'. Adele's 21 has spent a record breaking 18 consecutive weeks at number one, so for Lady GaGa to swoop in and win this award was a huge surprise."
Adding, "It just demonstrates the incredible power of her fan base. The results are never quite as we predict but at the end of the day, with over 1.5 million voters, these results really do reflect the voice of the public."
The 'Born This Way' single was also voted Best Track and the Best Video ahead of Katy Perry's 'Firework'
The pop queens duked it out again in the closely fought Best Female battle with Gaga and Katy receiving 30.63% and 30.29% of the vote respectively.
Hottest Female was also awarded to the maverick singer.
Elsewhere, there were a few surprises. Manchester duo Hurts won Best Group, Take That won Best Live Act and pop stalwart Robbie Williams was victorious as Hottest Male.
Despite being in hospital for much of the year, George Michael was awarded Best Male and Sir Cliff Richard won Legend of the Year.
Jessie J was voted Newcomer of the Year

Lady Gaga To Reveal Born This Way Tour Stage Design

Mother Monster will post images of the set for her upcoming tour on Twitter.

Mother Monster is readying her next tour, the Born This Way Ball.
Lady Gaga took to Twitter to let her fans know that on Tuesday, she will unleash images of the stage design for the tour, which is set to launch later this year. She added that she was brewing up a number of other tour-related projects and wrote, "putting the set list together!"

Over the last few weeks, Gaga has been tweeting frequently about the upcoming outing, noting that she's been in meetings with her Haus and watching old Monster Ball Tour videos that "made us cry. We love u, can't wait for the next one."

Haus member and BTWproducer Fernando Garibayshared with MTV News in December that the show will be reflective of the 2011 album. "This album was the most personal [because of] the amount of detail that went into this record, the amount of passion [and] emotion from her and the team," he said. "Every song was a story towards the Born This Way theme. We're excited now, putting that into the tour and expressing that on a live performance level.

"You can imagine what happened on the Monster Ball, so use your imagination," he said. "That's what's going to happen, exaggerated." Until Gaga does hit the road, she revealed what she'll be doing come this Sunday. "Looking forward to seeing the Superbowl! The halftime show will be wonderful, I'm sure," she tweeted.

"An excuse to drink beer+watch boys in tights. #yes."
Madonna is slated to take the stage during the Super Bowl halftime show. She recently made headlines when she called Gaga's song "Born This Way" "reductive," subsequently complimenting her "rawness."

Lady Gaga ‘special’ yoga student

Lady Gaga is a “special” yoga student, her instructor has revealed.
Tricia Donegan teaches the eccentric singer the Bikram method and spoke about the star’s incredible talent, which she uses to “change the world”.
The sports expert explained that Gaga’s dedication to the ancient exercise will draw worldwide attention to yoga and its health benefits.
“Lady Gaga is something very special, because she is a woman of service. She uses her talent to make this world better, and that’s because she practices yoga. We are using her celebrityism so that people will listen. She is blessed that she has talent, but what’s special about her is that she’s going to change the world,” she told US publication the New York Times.
Tricia also explained that Gaga applies the same focus to Bikram yoga as she does to her career.
The teacher noted that successful people often achieve amazing results in all areas of their life, which makes the Marry The Night singer a model student.
“When I teach yoga, I teach a practice of self-compassion. When you ask, how do I teach my clients, the answer is, the way they do anything is how they do everything. So if they’re successful in one part of their life, they will be successful in Bikram,” she said.

Lady Gaga Fumes Over Cruel Twitter Taunts

Lady GaGa has unleashed a scathing attack on a group of Twitter.com users for mocking a bullied gay fan who took his life last year.

The phrase #GagasCareerDiedWithJamey became one of the most popular Twitter topics on Thursday as users made reference to tragic teen Jamey Rodemeyer, who allegedly took his life after years of bullying over his sexuality.

The Bad Romance hitmaker was outraged by the craze and took to her own Twitter page to defend Rodemeyer.

She writes, "Tweets about a 14 yr olds suicide in order to take a jab at me? Consider your integrity making fun at a dead child's pain.

"Direct your insults (at) Lady Gaga, I can take it. Don't bring in those who are not alive anymore to defend themselves. Be braver than that."

The singer launched a campaign to make bullying illegal after learning that New York native Rodemeyer had committed suicide to escape his tormentors last September.
