Time Magazine names Lady Gaga one of Top 100 fashion icons

We have Time, a once-popular newsmagazine, to thank for completely changing the definition of “fashion.” The magazine has now listed Lady Gaga in its “All-Time Top 100 Fashion Icons.”
Fashion icons are typically those people who dress classy or who others would want to dress like.
We don’t know you’re style, but we can assume you wouldn’t want to wear a meat dress or have an outfit made out of Kermit the Frog dolls.
So, what was Time’s reason for naming her a fashion icon? “Lady Gaga is just as notorious for her outrageous style as she is for her pop hits,” the website says, “Gaga has [even] partnered with brands like Giorgio Armani on tour outfits.”
Next time you don’t feel like picking out an outfit in the morning – just grab some duck tape and a dish towel. We’re sure you’ll create something equivalent to one of Gaga’s famous looks and you too could be a “fashion icon.”

Lady Gaga inspires Raakesh Agarvwal's collection

International pop diva Lady Gaga’s eclectic style became an inspiration for designer Raakesh Agarvwal’s collection at the second day of ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Thursday.
“Lately, I have been listening to Lady Gaga a lot. Initially I never liked her, but when I started listening to her, I started falling in love with her. I love her style but I don’t know how many people would be able to carry it,” Agarvwal told IANS.

“I love her style statement and she is unbelievably creative. It was a challenge because she is always creative and I wanted that whole Lady Gaga creativeness to come into much more wearable garments. The garments were cut sharply for the body so that a normal woman can pick up and wear it and yet feel like Lady Gaga,” he added.

The designer’s collection included gold sequined jump suits, short dresses, jackets and gowns made from fabrics like velvets, jerseys, wool, satin and silk. However, the collection was dominated by leather.

“The whole collection is inspired by lot of architectures from different eras like the Taj Mahal in Agra to Blue mosque in Istanbul and Louvre Museum in Paris. We have taken different techniques, artworks and motifs and blended it with the sexy look with a bit of Lady Gaga style thrown into it,” he said.

Singer Anushka Manchanda opened Agarvwal’s show with a small gig, pepping up the mood in the show area.

“Anushka is real star and one of the best pop stars in the country till now. Moreover, because the collection was about Lady Gaga meeting architectural collection, I thought it would be better if I take a popstar rather than having any Bollywood celebrity or a supermodel,” Agarvwal added. (IANS)

Lady Gaga - Charles Worthington Wants To Work With Gaga

Charles Worthington would love to style Lady Gaga's hair because she would want something ''completely outrageous''.
Charles Worthington would love to style Lady Gaga's hair.
The iconic hairdresser believes the eccentric singer would be the ideal person to work with as she would want something ''completely outrageous''.
When asked who he would like to work with, Charles exclusively told BANG Showbiz: ''Lady Gaga would be an absolute scream because she's so out there. There would be no parameters as to what you could do with her. She'd want something completely outrageous which would be really fun to do.''
Angelina Jolie is also at the top of his wish list of people's hair to style, adding: ''I've never worked with Angelina Jolie and I think she'd be fabulous to work with.''
Meanwhile, Charles - who has teamed up with the BAFTAs to create a limited-range of hair products - has predicted the styles that he thinks will be popular on the red carpet at this month's Academy Awards.
He believes that the top looks will include ''relaxed glamour'' and modern versions of Marilyn Monroe's hair.
He said: ''The slightly more relaxed glamour rather than everything being too structured. The odd little bit of fly away and the odd fluffiness and texture to hair. I think it looks more real and I think we're definitely going to see some of them Marilyn waves from the film, 'A Week With Marilyn'.''
Charles Worthington's Limited Edition BAFTA and 25th Anniversary Collection is available now. Visit www.charlesworthington.com for more information.

Kelly Osbourne Blasts Lady GaGa Fans For Vile Twitter Abuse

Kelly Osbourne has hit back at the Lady GaGa fans who bombarded her with abuse after a Grammy comment.
Osbourne had called the 'Judas' singer "disrespectful" for snubbing the red carpet last Sunday (February 12), prompting an onslaught of angry Twitter messages from her so-called Little Monsters.
She had said: "Being part of the music industry is walking the red carpet. You say hello to your fans and you give back to those reporters and those people who supported you. And when you go to an awards show and you don’t walk the red carpet, I find that disrespectful."
After coming under fire from the popstar's supporters, she wrote: "I have been told to die, suck d**k, get raped & that i look like i have aids by @ladygaga fans no wonder they get called bullies. (sic)"
The Fashion Police host then reminded her followers that she is a fan of GaGa, saying: "I love [her] I’m a huge fan she is amazing… i just gave one opinion and people went nuts!
"I don’t label [Gaga's] entire fan base as bullies because i know they are not but some really are giving you guys a bad rep!”
She concluded: "@ladygaga really has created monsters. w/ every nasty unjustified tweet u send me u shame your queen. hate [is] not what @ladygaga is about!"

Lady Gaga ‘Uses Her Talent to Make This World Better, and That’s Because She Practices Yoga’

Oh, yoga. You're probably going to do some after work. Maybe you got to a class this morning. Maybe you're thinking about going, but you're ultimately not going to go because you feel like yoga is a place where everyone has to show off, like they're wearing clothes to Fashion Week or something, and you'd really just like to tell everyone in what orifice they can stick their wall-less forearm stands. Well speaking of show-offs, guess whose love of yoga was reaffirmed today? Lady Gaga's! Her Bikram instructor Tricia Donegan spoke to T's blog:
Lady Gaga must be a good yoga student since everyone is always commenting on her body.
Lady Gaga is something very special, because she is a woman of service. She uses her talent to make this world better, and that’s because she practices yoga. We are using her celebrityism so that people will listen. She is blessed that she has talent, but what’s special about her is that she’s going to change the world. When I teach yoga, I teach a practice of self-compassion. When you ask, how do I teach my clients, the answer is, the way they do anything is how they do everything. So if they’re successful in one part of their life, they will be successful in Bikram.
So anyway, the other thing that irks about yoga is how you can't get there late, because if you interrupt the "om" stuff in the beginning, the teacher gets upset, but if you get there on time you have to listen to the beginning-of-the-class monologue about life and whatever trip to the Berkshires the instructor took recently. But, it's not like you can QUIT doing yoga because you started and all, and now yoga-dropping ("Sorry I'm late, I was just at the hardest yoga class") is a thing you do.

Oscar fashion goes bold. Thank Lady Gaga!

Taking a tip from music stars Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj, Hollywood's A-list actresses are expected to turn up on Oscar's red carpet in many bold, futuristic designs, fashion experts predict.

The eye toward the future marks a turnaround from recent years in which styles at Hollywood's biggest awards shows have featured vintage gowns, subdued designs and colours, and less jewelry in a nod to the world's economic woes.

But with consumer confidence up, Hollywood's top female actresses will be wearing distinctive gowns highlighted by draping and accented shoulders and sleeves. Expect a wide array of colours, from pale shades and skin tones to bold purples, oranges, midnight blues and classic black.

Designer Marc Bouwer said this year's futuristic fashions are influenced by some of the "out-there" costumes of pop music superstars like Lady Gaga, Minaj and now Britney Spears as seen in her latest video, "Hold It Against Me."
"Artists are starting to dress much more crazy, more out there and it has a ripple effect on fashion," said Bouwer.

"While you won't see a Lady Gaga outfit necessarily on the Oscar red carpet, you will see more architectural styles -- an expanded shoulder, a pronounced sleeve. The stronger power woman has emerged, and you cannot ignore that trend."

Styles on the red carpet ahead of the world's top film honors are expected to be similar to those debuting last month at Hollywood's Golden Globe Awards.
At that show, "Glee" star Lea Michelle dazzled fashionistas in a pink asymmetrical Oscar de la Renta gown, and other actresses such as Nicole Kidman, Michelle Williams and Scarlet Johansson turned up in skin tones and pale shades of rose.

Jewelry is back

This year Bouwer, who famously dressed Angelina Jolie in a white satin halter dress for the 2007 Oscars, is working with nominees including "The Fighter" star Melissa Leo on the trend he calls, "futuristic architectural minimalism."
It is a look that he and others said not only takes into consideration the dress, but accessories that come with it.

"We're going to see statement pieces," said Greg Kwiat of Kwiat Diamonds. His jewels previously were worn at the Oscars by past nominees such as Anna Kendrick and Natalie Portman.

"A bracelet, a necklace. There will be everything from classic diamonds to lots of colours like yellow gold or aquamarine," Kwiat said.
If the dresses and jewels are bold, then the hair has to be simple and "not so overly complicated" according to celebrity hair stylist Anthony Morrison.

"Whether the hair is up or down, it's more about having a finished look, not frizzy or disheveled," he said. "We've been using a lot of smoothing products to make sure hair is glossy, shiny and polished."

Hair colour is also expected to be big and bold this year.

"The colour is going to look amazing," Morrison said. "Rich brunettes, gorgeous reds and perfect blondes. Everybody will enhance whatever colour they have."
Colour enhancement is likely to be seen in many gowns, as well, along with classic black and ivory found at black-tie events. Allen B. Schwartz, creative director of A.B.S. by Allen Schwartz said to expect bold greens, purples, corrals, oranges and midnight navy.

"Colour is usually about positive energy," he said. "We all know what's gone on with people struggling because of the economy. Everyone has started off the year with a renewed energy for a better time (and) colour is about being happy."

Lady Gaga's 2012 Outfits (Photos)

Looks like we can all expect just as much fashion risk taking from Lady Gaga in 2012 as we did in 2011!

Mother Monster rang in the new year in New York City dressed in a variety of her usual over-the-top ensembles. Gaga started off the night in a gold pantsuit with matching Louboutin heels before changing into a black, bedazzled unitard (complete with major shoulder decorations and a Batman style face mask) for her performance of "Marry the Night."

After taking the stage, Gaga slipped into a silver ensemble that included a silver gown, matching gloves, and a dazzling headpiece that looked as though it was covered in diamonds (we wouldn't put it past Gaga if it had been). But the pop diva wasn't done yet! After all of the public festivities were over she donned a winter white ensemble that included a short dress, bejeweled stockings, sky-high Louboutin pumps, and a fur cape for private party at her own New York City restaurant.

Phew! Lady Gaga sure makes your one fancy New Year's Eve dress look like fashion child's play, doesn't she? Check out all of Gaga's 2012 outfits below.

The Best Lady Gaga Outfits Of 2011

There could be no Best of 2011 here at MTV Style without Lady Gaga. (Claws UP!) A true chameleon and total renegade style-slaya of the highest order, Mother Monster makes our jobs so much easier every time she steps onto the stage or street. Every moment of Gaga's life is a style moment, as you little monsters know, and Mama loves to turn it UP and OUT from head-to-soul-to-toe with every single ensemble. This year alone we've witnessed everything from pantlessness and icicle eyebrows to an Armani zombie and futuristic Paco Rabanne fashion parade. It was tough to choose just ten looks (wooo-eeee we were stuck in the deliberation chamber forEVS trying to lock this bizness down), but we've narrowed down Gaga's best style moments of the year. We think you'll agree that even though practically every outfit is Best Of-worthy, that these beauties have something extra special.

FIRST LADY OF VINTAGE VERSACE

It's no secret that Lady Gaga loves Versace. Earlier this year, she told a German TV program that she was having a love affair with the brand and had been given access to rarely seen pieces from the archives thanks to Donatella Versace. She rocked out several multi-print, hyper-color ensembles throughout the year, but the all-over Versace outfit she wore to celebrate Lady Gaga Day in Taiwan was truly something else. A lovably garish mix of tomato red, loud leopard print, gold buttons, and old skool bell bottom swing pants accessorized with a matching leopard bag, sky high spiked platforms, and a hat that featured a twisted braid of her dual colored hair, this hodgepodge Versace fantasy number was a CRAY-tastic masterpiece.

POST-APOCALYPTIC WHITE SWAN

Gaga channeled late Alexander McQueen muse Isabella Blow at the 2011 Bambi Awards in Germany. Her McQueen gown transformed her into an elegant swan trapped in a golden acid rain shower as the top half was an intricate array of shimmering doodads that covered her entire head and bodice before giving way to unctuous layers of white ruffled frill. It was a beautiful off-kilter look that had us all gasping for its high-fashion audacity. When paired with that expression and golden fawn, Gaga looks vulnerable and also totally FIERCE.

  CRUELLA CATWALKER

Oh, Gagalicious, you can get away with anything can't you? Look at this see-through cat suit right here. Gaga doesn't care; she'll strut her bare bazooms where and when she pleases with a glass of champers in hand, thank you very much. This shot came after Gaga's appearance on her style guru, Nicola Formichetti's catwalk as he made his design debut for Mugler during Paris Fashion Week's fall 2011 collections. We love the heavily-rimmed eye with a fanciful touch below, red lips, and her gigantic blonde ponytails from the show piled high into buns. Looks like Mama M kept on her nudie panties from the show and topped off this whole Parisian sensuality bomb of an outfit with some thigh-high boots and leath-ah jacket used as an accessory. Bravo, Lady, BRAVO.

PACO RABANNE ALIEN WARRIOR PRINCESS

Gaga has the power to singlehandedly make a designer's career happen. Or, in the case ofPaco Rabanne, resurrect it. Even though the namesake designer of the line stepped down some years ago, the luxury brand has a new designer at the helm and showed a well-received collection in Paris. But you didn't really hear the name of the house making headlines until Gaga chose to showcase not one, not two, but FIVE Paco Rabanne outfits at the 2011 EMA thereby ushering the house back into the fash-vernacular seemingly overnight. The very next day, everyone wanted to know more about this 40-year-old brand (we even took it upon ourselves to give you a crash course on all things Rabanne). Gaga wore a new version of a vintage Rabanne fish-tail gown from the 1960s and did so with alien green eyes, matching lipstick, and a three-tiered side pony. This gown made our Best Of list not just for its well-heeled nod to the past, but for its otherworldly Barbarella-esque audacity.

JO CALDERONE

Oh, Jo Calderone, you insouciant, chain-smoking, garbled, crotch-grabbing grubtasticness of a manly man, ohhh how we loved ye this year at theVMA's! Besides carrying off a total style metamorphosis that included a short greasy wig with sideburns and makeup that darkened her brows and upper lip, Lady Gaga kicked out a Brooks Brothers suit and messy white v-neck tee with the kind of confidence that only befits overly confident man-folk of the type in which she wished to portray. It's a little scary, this transformation, because it's TOTALLY BELIEVABLE. Did we mention Gaga stayed in her Ralph Macchio, we mean Jo Calderone, persona the entire night?

ANTEBELLUM CHANEL DEBUTANTE

So, as the tally now stands, Gaga's worn everything from McQueen and Versace to Paco Rabanne and menswear. What else does that leave us? Oh, yes, CHANEL. For theopening of Gaga's Workshop at Barney's in New York, Our Lady wore not just any Chanel, she wore antebellum haute couture Chanel complete with a voluminous white coat with massive crinoline underneath, black fingerless gloves, a mini Chanel purse with black and white flowers, and a towering ribbon headpiece with a white flower in the middle. We couldn't actually see if she was wearing interlocking C contact lenses (though that would have been rad), but everything about this look screamed Chanel while also screaming ladylike awesomness.

ACID WASH JEAN QUEEN

Photo: Terry Richardson/'LADY GAGA X TERRY RICHARDSON'
It was a big year for Lady Gaga overall, and one of the highlights was the mammoth coffee table book, LADY GAGA X TERRY RICHARDSON, which featured 350 photographs shot by Terry Richardson over the course of a year in her life. Apparently, he took over 100,000 photos of her (don't know HOW he narrowed them down) and the result is a peek into moments in Gaga's life that we've never seen. When flipping through this book (which we've done a million times already), it was hard to choose which one represented the best from the insane selection of choices. But this particular one really stood out to us. For one, she's wearing head-to-toe denim, which is unusual. Also, this isn't any jean-on-jean pairing, it's a panoply of ACID WASH. With a not-so-subtle tip o' the hat to the '80s, ripped knees, and black metal groupie booties, we LOVE this look for Our Lady. It takes us back to what we imagine she looked like prowling around the Lower East Side, her blonde peroxide bob, red lips, and Ray Bans commanding attention from the corner of Stanton and Ludlow. Also, her expression in this pic, as she's trying to sign autographs, looks as if she still in disbelief that peeps are this hungry for her, and we like that sense of playful humility.

MOTHER HAIR MONSTER

What's this? Ohhhh, just a giant walking MERKIN out on the streets of London-town. This tip-to-toe hair outfit was such a fashion moment that we had to include it in our Most Outrageous Outfits of 2011 round-up, too. Look at this thing. It's hair GAHHH-LORE. What's that, a hair sombrero? You bettah believe it. Then, there's this merkin dress with flowing brunette tendrils that look like they had the best blow-out ever before being trimmed then attached to this V-shaped wonder. Throw in some green mermaid hair, ubiquitous Ray Bans, black Loubous, and a picture of the Bride of Frankenstein held at thigh-level just BECAUSE, and you have the makings of ZOMG fashion mastery.

'VOGUE'-ER

Oh, HAI. We DIE a million TIMES for this unbelievably beautiful cover. The whole severe pink bob on mint green background with fuchsia cover lines and a hella drapey Greek goddess Haider Ackermann gown has us crying mega magazine aficionado tears at the sheer brizilliance of the March 2011 issue of Vogue featuring Our Lady of GaGAH. It doesn't get any better than this, people! Look at these peroxide brows and wine-stained lips that are bringing this POWER (because this is the "Power Issue") to life even though the arms look purposefully airbrushed to more sinewy proportions, we don’t care because this is GAGA and this is GAGA ON THE COVER VOGUE.

MINT GREEN FAIRY

Lady Gaga out and about in London.
Photo: Getty Images
Last but not least we come to the bookish mint green fairy look that Mother Monster sported on the streets of London earlier this fall. If you've seen her "Marry the Night" video then you're already well aware that "mint will be very big in fashion next spring" as Gaga decreed in a voiceover while she was being wheeled along the ornate corridors of some sort of insane asylum/medical clinic by nurses wearing "next season Calvin Klein." Gaga hinted at this trend with her faint mint green hair piled high in a subdued unicorn bun as well as mint green, wrapped-ankle platforms. The whole look is so much more feminine than we're used to seeing, and we especially like the pastel glitter green on her cheeks, the white baroqueMoo Piyasombatkul glasses, white lace ice skater dress, and pale pink fur stole. If this is the shape of things to come for 2012, we'll hold her to her mint green word. Thus, we encourage all little monsters to start scouring stores for this mint loveliness NOW.

Lady GaGa Voted Billboard's 'Most Overrated' Artist

Lady GaGa has been named the 'Most Overrated' artist of 2011 by voters inBillboard's Year in Music poll.
The Marry The Night singer topped the list with 30% of the votes, beating second-placeBritney Spears with 29% and Justin Bieber, who came third with 21%.
Despite topping the most overly hyped act of the year poll, GaGa was also top in the Best Fashion list, pulling in 30% of the votes due to her daring dress sense.
Bajan babe Rihanna was close behind Lady Gaga with 25%, while outlandish rapper Nicki Minajsecured 13% of the votes.
Earlier this week, the Born This Way star was also crowned the highest-earning female artist of the year by Forbes, after apparently pocketing a cool $90milion in 2011.
The 25-year old beat the likes of Taylor SwiftKaty Perry and Beyoncé  - with Adele being the only UK act to feature in the list, thanks to her record-breaking album 21.

Fashion Dissect: Lady Gaga 'Marry the Night' Video

Lady Gaga sinister "Marry The Night" video explores a slanted reality through the eyes of Mother Monster herself, who directed. Choreographed by Richard Jackson, the video was shot back in October in New York City, specifically Staten Island and Harlem. Getting wheeled through a psychiatric ward by two nurses dressed in Calvin Klein, Gaga opened up in an eerie monologue and spilled on her love of fashion, saying: "I always believe that you walk the line of humour if you're being so incredibly serious... Those nurses are wearing next season Calvin Klein and so am I."

"And the shoes -- custom Giuseppe Zanotti. I tipped their gauze hats to the side like Parisian berets because I think it's romantic and I also believe that mint will be very big in fashion next spring."

Her fashion craving continues as Gaga rocks a rich array of twisted and savage looks. Here are my picks of the top bizarre and outstanding looks from the perfectly perverse video.

Calvin Klein Clinic Chic (:55):
Kicking off the impressive 14-minute video, Gaga looks modest and a bit 'Girl Interrupted' in this white Calvin Klein look. She polished off this twisted vibe with a pair of custom Giuseppe Zanotti white pumps and a black bob wig.

Black Swan Ballerina (04:40):
Gaga is anything but conventional as she works her way around a ballet bar performing as a glamorous yet twisted ballerina in a pale rose latex colored top and 12-inch platform ballet shoes.

Cheerios Couture (06:16):
Gaga swopped out the meat dress for something a bit more eco-friendly as she frolicked around her small urban apartment topless and covered in cheerios.

Bedazzled Versace (07:03):
Glittering in this Versace rhinestone-studded denim look, Gaga looks grungy chic as she says: "But I still had my BeDazzler and I had a lot of patches, shiny ones from M&J Trimming, so I wreaked havoc on some old denim. And I did what any girl would do - I did it all over again." Her retro Flashdance-esque look is polished off with a pair of Mercura Sunglasses.

Naked in Heals (11:26):
Ferociously posing in a bathtub with only a pair of skyscraper heels, Gaga shows off her side Tattoos, dropping the modesty she showed at the beginning of the video.

Black Leather (12:50):
Baying at a full moon and undulating around a sunroof on the hood of a car, Gaga shines in this vampire Sculptural black patent leather underwear look with added fierceness provided by knee high Louboutin boots.

A Mad Gaga (12:57):
Channeling the bizarre and wonder of the Mad Hatter, Gaga rocks an all black look complete with a hat so large it would not only intimidate the Mad Hatter himself, but the entire Middleton family as well.

Street Walker (13:07):
Gaga took to the streets to bump and grind in baller shades, black leather body suit and blue lips.
