Lady Gaga’s fans to be disappointed by her parents’ eatery

Lady Gaga’s parents will open a New York eatery next week named Joanne Trattoria.
But before you start lining up around the block, Little Monsters, Cynthia and Joe Germanotta want to make it clear: This isn’t their daughter’s restaurant.
In an interview with the New York Times, the Germanottas seem to be slightly concerned that their daughter’s superstar status will threaten the eatery’s “low key” atmosphere.
“One tweet and it’s over,” Cynthia Germanotta told the Times — “her blue eyes widening.”
Joe Germanotta said, “If [Gaga’s fans are] expecting to come in here and see Grammys and pictures and stuff like that, it’s not going to happen.”
It may be a little too late to stop the hype. Gaga talked about opening the restaurant with her dad on her Thanksgiving special, which waswatched by 5.5 million viewers: “It was just always my dad’s dream to own a place. ... And to watch him open up the restaurant of his dreams ... that’s wealth. That’s the dream.” Joanne’s head chef, Art Smith, a celeb in his own right, cooked alongside Gaga during that special.
(Joe Germanotta told the Times that he “could have” afforded to open the place without Gaga, who is not an owner.)
Another indication that the singer’s very public statement about Joanne cannot be unheard? Some of comments on the restaurant's Facebook page, the first of which reads, “Gaga I [heart] you.”
But hey, having too many customers can’t be all that bad, right? Even if they aren’t wearing pants?

Lady Gaga’s Parents to Open Joanne Trattoria

A Low-Key Spot With a High-Wattage Connection

THE women made a pilgrimage to West 68th Street, 450 miles from home, squinting in the rain on Monday as they peered through the restaurant’s front windows. The place was closed, they were told.
Not a problem, they said. They had come only to glimpse the Mother Gaga.
“That guy’s so lucky,” said Michele Munnery, 21, visiting with two friends from Cayuga, Ontario, as she watched a man work behind the bar. “I’m nervous just standing out here.”
Next Wednesday, in a modest space off Columbus Avenue, Joseph and Cynthia Germanotta plan to open Joanne Trattoria, an Italian restaurant with a well-stocked front bar, a cozy back patio and seating for about 70 people. The venture has been both bolstered and complicated by a simple fact: the Germanottas’ daughter Stefani, better known as Lady Gaga, is perhaps the most famous woman in the world.
“She just generates a lot of sizzle,” Mr. Germanotta said of his older daughter, who has worn a dress made of meat and once arrived at the Grammy Awards inside a giant egg.
For now, the owners seem suspended between embracing the attention and distancing themselves from it. Lady Gaga’s few mentions of the restaurant and her appearance at a party there on New Year’s Eve have generated buzz that top chefs could only hope to attract. Art Smith, the chef and a partner at Joanne, met her at a taping of Oprah Winfrey’s show. (Mr. Smith was Ms. Winfrey’s personal chef for many years.)
Yet Lady Gaga’s celebrity threatens to compromise the low-key tenor of the restaurant, which is billed as a casual neighborhood Italian spot, like its predecessor, Vince & Eddie’s. If the singer’s followers flock to Joanne, what will matter more: the chicken scarpariello or the woman with the egg costume?
“One tweet,” Ms. Germanotta said, her blue eyes widening, “and it’s over.”
In an ABC News interview with Katie Couric in November, Lady Gaga said, “My dad and I opened up a restaurant together.” She recalled watching him raise the awning on 68th Street, blocks from where she was raised, and naming the place for his sister, who died of lupus at age 19. Lady Gaga teared up. “That’s wealth,” she said, placing her hand over her heart. “That’s the dream.”
In fact, Lady Gaga is not an owner, and Mr. Germanotta said the family could have afforded to open even without his daughter’s success.
The fare will be Southern Italian, Ms. Germanotta said, in the sense that Mr. Smith is Southern and the Germanottas are Italian. Papa G’s chicken, named for Mr. Germanotta, will most likely be offered. So will an osso buco inspired by his sister, and Cynthia’s salad, after Ms. Germanotta. Mr. Smith has been given free rein to offer a “Southern Sunday” menu each week. Entrees will cost about $25 to $30, Mr. Germanotta said.
Renderings of the Tuscan countryside adorn the walls. Near the fireplace at the entrance, family photos hang above a front booth. But the Germanottas said they were unsure whether to include a picture of their famous daughter. Perhaps, Ms. Germanotta mused, they could find an older shot in which the singer is recognizable only up close.
Mr. Germanotta agreed. “If they’re expecting to come in here and see Grammys and pictures and stuff like that, it’s not going to happen,” he said.
Still, at least one person — besides the three women from Ontario out front, who later searched beneath a parked Ford for any scrap of Gaga detritus — seemed eager for the star’s occasional appearance: the chef, Mr. Smith. If, of course, she could squeeze in a visit.
“We have to share her,” he said. “Just like everybody else.”

Lady Gaga: I Definitely Want Kids "Someday"

Is Mother Monster's biological clock ticking?

In an interview with The InsiderLady Gaga, 25, opens up about her desire to one day start a family. "Someday. A long, long day from now," she says. "Not soon. My baby will be my new record."

The "Marry the Night" singer, who's currently dating hunky Vampire Diaries actor Taylor Kinney, 30, says she was "born to make music. I was born to see out my artistic visions. That's what Born This Way is all about."

"I'm looking forward to putting out another album and going on tour," Gaga (real name: Stefani Germanotta) adds. "I can't wait to see the fans. I have a million ideas and I just feel very blessed to be an artist who gets to do what she loves."

Gaga's career will always take precedence over her love life, a source close to the singer recently told Us Weekly. "Gaga can't be too committed because she works 24/7," the source explained. "But she thinks Taylor's super cute!"

Lady Gaga a reincarnation of her aunt?

London, Dec 24 : Singer Lady Gaga says she is the reincarnation of her aunt.

The singer, known for her wacky outfits, feels she has two hearts and her spiritual beliefs have made people think she is crazy.

"I believe that I had a reincarnation and believe that you can be reborn over and over again. I believe I was my father's sister and her spirit is with me. I believe I am her reincarnation. When I talk about this in America they look at me like I am crazy," dailystar.co.uk quoted Gaga as saying.

"My middle name is Joanne, which is my dad's sister's name, and her middle name is Stephanie, which is my birth name. It all just kind of comes together in this interesting way. Whenever I see my grandmother or my family, they say: 'You look so much like her'," she said.

"And I believe she had so much unfinished business on this Earth. She was a poet, writer and painter. I have two hearts and one is hers. I am grateful to God. I am a spiritual person and I thank God for my voice and music," she added. (IANS)

Lady GaGa: 'My mum cried over Marry The Night video explosions'

Lady GaGa has revealed that she refused to use a stunt double for her latest music video.

The singer admitted that her mother cried when she decided to film herself standing in front of exploding cars for her new visual for 'Marry The Night'.

"We really lit the cars on fire, we really exploded them," she explained during an interview with Vevo. "My dad and my mum were in a car somewhere and my mum was like crying and so upset because I didn't want to use a stunt double.

"I never use doubles for anything. So we filmed this shot of the explosion and I remember thinking back then if they told me I could stand 15 feet away from a car while it explodes in a music video, I wouldn't have flinched."

GaGa added: "So don't flinch now. I just stood there. If you flinch after all that - it's like taking a sip of water when you're ten feet from the end of a marathon. What a jackass."

'Marry The Night' is the fifth cut to be lifted from Lady GaGa's Born This Way and is available to download now.

The star recently revealed that the accompanying music video is about the day she was dropped by her first label Island Def Jam.
